Five Gov’t Schools in Greater Hoima to Benefit from World Bank Funded USEEP Expansion Program

Several government secondary schools in Bunyoro region are set to benefit from the World Bank funded program to facelift and expand their infrastructures.

Schools to benefit from the program titled Uganda Secondary Education Expansion program (USEEP) include Sir Tito Winyi secondary school, and Buseruka secondary school in Hoima district, Buhanika seed secondary school in Hoima City, Our Lady of Fatuma College and Kiziranfumbi secondary school all in Kikuube district.

According to the project scope, some of the schools are set to receive facilities such as classrooms, administration blocks, science laboratories, computer laboratories, stance latrines, staff quarters, playgrounds, and incinerators among others on top of constructing seed schools.

Information available reveals that under the project beneficiary school heads and community led supervisory and procurement committee members have already been trained ahead of the project implementations.

Harriet Kihumuro, the Acting District Education Officer has confirmed the development saying the project is a community led and supervisory project which the district will support with monitoring to ensure the standards are followed.

Allan Tusiime the headteacher of Sir Tito Winyi secondary school says they have already been prepared and trained for the project, and they have already received a number of items like textbooks, balls, laptops, projectors and are now on the construction phase of the project.

Several beneficiary schools have already issued out invitations for bids for potential contractors as the procurement process goes underway.
