Shock and grief have gripped residents of Ruteete West Cell in Ruteete Town Council, Kagadi District, following the death of a 30-year-old woman at her boyfriend’s home under unclear circumstances.
The deceased has been identified as Deudanta Turamisa, a resident of Mutunda Cell in Ruteete Town Council.
According to the LC1 Chairperson of Ruteete West Cell, Milton Ndyareba, he was informed about the incident at around midnight on Monday.
He said Turamisa had reportedly gone to spend the night at the home of her boyfriend, Didas Ndyamuhakyi, also 30, a resident of Ruteete West Cell.
She reportedly died during the night under unclear circumstances.
Ndyareba described the incident as shocking and urged young people to be careful when entering relationships.
He advised them to know their partners well, including their health status, before making long-term commitments such as marriage.
Following an agreement between the two families, the deceased’s body was released to relatives for burial.
Police have launched investigations into the incident. By press time, Didas Ndyamuhakyi was being held at Ruteete Police Station to assist with investigations.
Police say he is the prime suspect but emphasize that the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
