The number of malaria cases reported at health facilities in Buliisa District is steadily declining following the government’s recent distribution of mosquito nets to communities.
This has been revealed by the In-charge of Buliisa Health Centre IV, Dr. Peter Otim, during an exclusive interview with Spice FM.
Dr. Otim said that before the mosquito nets were distributed, malaria cases accounted for about 70 percent out of 100% of all patients treated at the facility on a daily basis.
However, he noted that the number of malaria-positive cases has significantly reduced since households received the nets.
Dr. Otim expressed optimism that malaria cases will continue to decline if communities make proper use of the mosquito nets.
He urged residents, especially parents, to ensure that all family members sleep under treated mosquito nets every night to protect themselves from mosquito bites and prevent malaria infections.
