The Hoima City Ebola Task force has temporarily closed the Karongo weekly market over Ebola fears.

Speaking during the Extra Ordinary Council sitting of Hoima City on Tuesday afternoon, Hajj Badru Mugabi, the Chairperson of the task force disclosed that their decision to close that market which normally operates on Saturday gathers a big number of fish mongers from Lake Albert borders the neighboring Congo, currently the epicenter of Ebola Disease.

Mugabi also the Hoima City Resident Commissioner says the national task force abolished weekly and monthly markets operating in the high-risk border districts and recommendations were made to the district leadership for management and implementation.

Mugabi says they received guidance from the national task force on regulation and control of district-to-district movements and therefore advised pilgrims hailing from various religions to avoid making movements as a way of preventing themselves from contracting Ebola,

Meanwhile the RCC has confirmed there are no confirmed Ebola cases in Hoima City after several samples picked from different people turned out negative.

He has advised leaders and Christians planning for martyrs day prayers but called for strict observance of Standard operating procedures like avoid body contacts, sanitizing, use of temperature guns worship places.
