Shock and grief have engulfed residents of Bugana-Kichooke Village in Buliisa Sub-county after a 7-year-old girl was killed by lightning.

The tragic incident occurred yesterday Tuesday at around 11 a.m. during a rain drizzle when lightning struck a grass-thatched house where nine people had taken shelter.

An eyewitness, Godwin Kyosaba also a relative to deceased, says all the victims were rushed to Bugana Health Centre III, where the young girl was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Eight others, including two adults and six children, are currently receiving treatment for burns and related injuries.

The deceased is a granddaughter to Alice Tindyebwa, a resident of the same village.

The LC1 Chairperson of Bugana-Kichooke Village, David Katusiime, has confirmed the incident and says the injured are responding to treatment.
