Authorities in Hoima City are today set to kick off community engagements as part of the arrangements for the feasibility study and unveiling of detailed designs for several road infrastructure facilities ahead of AFCON games in 2027.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday by the City Town Clerk Edward Lwanga, a team of officials from Hoima City, Ministry of Works and Transport together with MBW consulting who are leading in the study will Thursday and Friday meet with all landlords and property owners on several selected roads in Hoima East Division.
The selected roads set to be tarmacked include Kyarwabuyamba road, Kyedikyo-Kyarwiru road, Butebere-Kyakapeya road, Butebere-Kicwamba road, Kampala road-Kyentale-Kidaiko road and Kigaraama-Kabaaale-Kitagi road.
“All property owners/landlords/representatives along the above roads are urged to be at the respective meeting venues.
The community engagement follow a meeting held on Tuesday at the Hoima City board and chaired by the Mayor Brian Kaboyo which brought together several stakeholders including from the kingdom,civil society, political leaders among others regarding the AFCON road projects.
During the Buhimba Kitara game under the Uganda Premier league game, fans struggled in traffic jam along the Hoima Masindi road, an indicator for good planning in managing traffic flow by authorities ahead of the AFCON games next year.
