CNOOC Uganda Limited is in the final stages of testing the equipment at the central processing facility they have installed before the oil drilling commences officially.

During a media training for journalists in Hoima organized by CNOOC Uganda Limited held at HB hotel, Andrew Mbigiti the media and publicity supervisor of CNOOC Uganda Limited disclosed that right now what is happening at the Central Processing Facility is pre-commissioning which involves testing of the equipment they installed.

Mbigiti says before going into official usage of equipment its first tested and this is done independently then later tested as a whole to perfect its usage for production.

Mbigiti also noted that Uganda currently imports all its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) used for cooking but currently CNOOC Uganda limited is set to change with the completion of an LPG plant at the Kingfisher development area and anytime from now they will start producing gas for cooking and electricity thus there will be no need for importation of gas again.

Robert Muganyizi, the productions operations engineer at CNOOC Uganda limited says that the gas they are going to get from the oil and gas will not be put to waste because it has various benefits among electricity and cooking gas production.

Ms. Yvette K. Muyingo the head of corporate affairs explained that the purpose of the media training is not to only provide updates but also technical understanding in enhancing capacity in reporting.

Muyingo says the knowledge shared will support in delivering more insightful and impactful stories because their role is beyond reporting and the media is a key stakeholder in oil production promising to create platforms of engagement to provide timely information.
