By Johnson Kanyesige

Illegal water use and unstable power supply are affecting the effective water supply in Hoima City, according to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Executive Director.

Engineer Silver Mugisha the Executive Director of NWSC says the non revenue water (stolen water) that is being consumed stands at 26% in Hoima city because water is being stolen something that is creating more water losses with the corporation.

He urged the city leadership, the security and the corporation to work together towards cracking down on the suspects engaged in water theft.

Mugisha also reveals that it is time to inform the president about the sufficient power production which is not matching with the distribution and transmission.

He wondered why areas like Hoima City can experience unstable power supply and yet there is sufficient power at Karuma power supply station. He revealed there are challenges that need to be addressed between the power producers and consumers.
