Hoima district local government is this Friday set to launch the disbursement of funds for the government’s newly introduced Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

Dr Charles Kajura the district PDM focal person reveals the district has 55 beneficiary SACCOs who have been prepared to start receiving the funds. He says the SACCOs already have 32 million shillings on their accounts with each beneficiary from each household ready to receive one million shillings.

The money will be received directly on the individual beneficiary account numbers or through their mobile money numbers.

Kajura says individual beneficiaries will take the funds in form of a loan by filling forms at a small interest of 6%. “This is not free money, beneficiaries will be required to pay it back”, he said.

Kajura says all beneficiaries who receive the funds will be closely monitored by SACCO and local government leaders and the responsible ministries to ensure the funds are put to the right use and paid back on time.
