Kikuube district authorities have expressed concern over shortages of teachers in various public schools which they say is affecting learner’s performance.

This was revealed Monday by Deogratius Byakagaba, the Kikuube district Education Officer during the Bugambe Sub county Education Conference 2024, that was aimed at improving the education performance sector in the sub county.

Byakagaba says the district has a shortage of over 500 teachers despite the high learner enrollment in various schools.

One teacher handles over 100 learners, above the standard ratio of 50 learners in primary and secondary.

Byakagaba has also asked parents not to underestimate the nursery section being the first foundation of pupils adding that parents and teachers all have a role to play to improve the education performance.
