Farmers in Buhaguzi East County in Kikuube district have been rallied to embrace value addition for their produce as well as using the agriculture sector to earn income.

Buhaguzi East County is formed by three Sub counties which include Bugambe, Buhimba and Buhimba town council where most of the locals depend on the agriculture sector for their livelihoods.

Now, speaking to journalists on Sunday, Hon Aseera Steven Itaaza, the incumbent Member of Parliament and currently seeking re-election for the same position says it is important for farmers to add value to what they are producing from their fields if they are to earn increased income.

He has also mobilized the locals to shift from subsistence agriculture where they only grow crops for home consumption but now change their mindsets to grow some crops for sale in a bid to improve on their household income.

The Incumbent Member of Parliament says as leaders they are now committed towards improving the infrastructure development like electricity and roads that facilitate transportation of the agriculture produce to the nearby markets as well as procurement of tools and seeds.
