The Hoima City Deputy Resident City Commissioner (D/RCC) has commended Spice Media Services for providing a platform in the ongoing debates to the aspiring candidates ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries on July 17.

According to Moses Muyambi, the debates are crucial for the locals and voters to hear for themselves what the potential leaders intend to do for them in case they are awarded the mandate in the coming elections, adding that some leaders struggle to connect with the electorates and fail to provide a genuine commitment and accountability for the areas of representation.

Muyambi has encouraged the locals to interest themselves in these debates which he says are for their own good in order to hold every leader especially the incumbent ones accountable ahead of the upcoming elections.

He has called on organizations like oil companies and civil society organizations to sponsor such debates because they contribute on identifying good leaders who in turn contribute to the development of the area.

Muyambi has made the remarks after the conclusion of the spirited Hoima West City Division Parliamentary Debate organized by Spice Media Services in partnership with HB Hotel at the Pool Side of the hotel on Sunday.

The debate was attended by the Hon Dr Joseph Ruyonga who is the Incumbent, Hon Ronald Tumusiime and Hon Donald Bakire Bategeka who are the contestants for the Hoima West division Member of Parliament under NRM.

Hon. Ronald Tumusiime committed to work in close connection with the local leaders and residents on brainstorming ideas in regard to improved service delivery in the division. On the other hand, Hon Donald Bakire Bategeka has promised to be a voice for everyone in the community while carrying out timely monitoring of the implementation of government projects and use of public funds.

Hon. Dr Joseph Ruyonga has committed to continue lobbying in areas of increased staffing in government schools, electricity connections and ensuring skilling centres are brought in the division among other commitments.

The debate now shifts to Kikuube Woman Member of Parliament Aspirants who face of today at HB Pool Side. These are Incumbent Flora Natumanya, Joan Kyomuhendo, Zulia Nyakahara Mbalirwa, Lilian Kabooga and Specioza Musiime.
