The National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) has asked local leaders at all levels in Hoima city, Kikuube and Hoima districts to mobilize their communities to embrace the ongoing mass renewal and registration exercise for National IDs. The exercise is ongoing at the parish and sub county levels across the city and the two districts.
Speaking to Spice FM in an exclusive interview, Evelyn Kiiza the head at NIRA-Hoima branch, says local leaders right from LCI, LCII, LCII up to the district level should intensify their mobilization campaigns to ensure all locals in their areas turn up for the exercise on time and complete the process of acquiring new documents that identify them as true Ugandans.
Kiiza says their teams will camp in all parishes adding that they are currently at sub county level and they are busy mobilizing more requirement that will be sent to the parishes across the three districts. She has revealed that new IDs are expected to be out in a month’s time from the date of completion of renewal or registration.
Kiiza has emphasized that the ongoing exercise is entirely free of charge and that what they need from the applicant of the National ID is just an expired or nearly expiring original ID or a police letter for those who don’t have the document.
