Hoima city authorities have on Wednesday cracked down on businesses without proper sanitary facilities in a bid to improve on public health in the city.
The city health team, led by Ms. Sarah Tusabe, joined forces with city enforcement officers to conduct a cleanliness compliance operation along businesses and buildings along the Hoima- Fort Portal Road. The affected businesses include saloons, boutiques, restaurants, electronic shops among others.
During the operation, several commercial buildings were also shut down for operating without proper sanitary facilities and operating in dirty spaces.
The authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene standards to enhance public health in the city.
The operation aimed to enforce compliance with city regulations and ensure that businesses operate in a manner that prioritizes the health and well-being of customers and employees.
The city health team disclosed that there is rampant spread of infections among the public due to poor hygiene saying they will continue to monitor businesses and take action against those that fail to meet the required standards.
