President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed local government leaders in Greater Mubende sub region to reassess all factors hindering access to free education in public schools for immediate redress.

The president made the remarks on Wednesday as he commissioned the zonal industrial Skilling hub located at Kibuye – Vuga, Kitenga Sub County in Mubende district.

Museveni revealed that the persistent soliciting of charges in public schools against the official government policy of free education for all is the reason he moved to establish the free zonal industrial skilling hubs across the country to counter the illegal actions of errant public schools’ administrators.

He explains that if public school administrators are careful enough to know and implement the NRM government’s free education policy, the impact will be seen from the increased number of children accessing schools from primary to tertiary level.

The commissioned hub has an admission capacity of 240 students from the 7 administrative units in Mubende sub region in the 5 district of Mityana, Mubende, Kasanda, Kiboga and Kyankwanzi and 2 municipalities.

The President emphasized that each parish must have a free primary school, one secondary school per Sub County and a tertiary institution to ensure that all children have access to free education within close proximity which he says is cost effective for government to manage.
He has warned administrators of public schools who impose charges on students in public schools to stop it with immediate effect.
