Two Arrested Over Brutal Killing of 16 Goats in Kagadi

Police in Kagadi district have arrested two suspects to aid in investigations surrounding the circumstances under which 16 goats and rabbits have been miserably murdered in Mpeefu sub-county Kagadi district over family conflicts.

The incident occurred in the wee hours of Monday in Kasojo village, Rwabaranga parish, Mpeefu sub-county Kagadi district. The domestic animals belong to Sam Alinaitwe a resident of the same area.

The suspects are Medard Byamukama, 38, and his wife Katongole Aisha, also both residents of Kasojo village.

It is alleged that the suspect only identified as Medard, at around 3am set ablaze the  shelter housing goats belonging to his elder brother and left 16 goats and one rabbit dead.

Following the incident, locals attacked the family of Mr Byamukama suspecting him to be behind this tragic incident and thumped him nearly to death. He was rescued by police from Kobushera police station.

Silagi Ngabirano, the LC3 chairperson for Mpeefu sub-county attributes the incident to family related wrangles.

The two suspects are currently detained at Kagadi central police station for further investigations.

The Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiiza said the police have taken action, visiting and documenting the scene.

Two people, Byamukama Medard and Katongole Aisha, have been arrested to aid in the investigation.
