Authorities in Kikuube district have started plans to create an emergency response fund to cater for road construction and rehabilitation works within the district.
The Kikuube Chief Administrative Officer, Canon Edward Musingye, says that although the district has a road fund, there is a need to have the fund to respond to emergencies on different roads.
He explains that the resources for the response fund will be diverted from different sector budgets.
Musingye notes that when roads within the district develop potholes, it takes years without rehabilitation awaiting budget allocations and approval which will not be the case with the emergency response fund in place.
While speaking to our reporter, Musingye adds that the district is also planning to purchase a hand roller for district roads to compact works for better sustainability.
Vincent Alpha Opio, the district vice chairperson explains that the district has no money for the disasters therefore this emergency response fund will be of great support.
