Five best farmers from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom have Wednesday received Irrigation Kits, a water harvesting tank and hybrid vegetable seeds to boost their livelihoods through the agriculture sector.

The agro Inputs and equipment were given to the farmers by Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) a government entity participating in the oil sector at a function held at the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom headquarters in Hoima City.

The recipients include John Vianney from Masindi, John Mary Bagonza, Magezi Francis and, Joan Aliguma from Hoima City, and Joan Kunihira from Kiryandongo.

The beneficiary farmers were among the 40 farmers that we’re selected from the 15 counties that make up the Kingdom and underwent a hands-on training conducted by Stanbic Bank Incubator in December 2022.

Samantha Muhweezi the head of Operations at UNOC says the five farmers have exemplary applied the skill they received as well as sharing the knowledge with the communities in their area.

She says as UNOC they are targeting the integration of host communities where they are operating as they ensure locals feel the ownership of the oil projects.

Shilla Agaba, from Stanbic Bank Incubator noted the beneficiaries were assessed and proved they were fully implementing what they had acquired adding that they were already benefiting from the training.

Alex Katusabe the administrative secretary of the Kingdom noted the five top beneficiaries will now become trainers in their communities inorder to ensure productivity in the Kingdom with the oil sector providing ready market.

Katusabe says in the model family campaign they want every family to improve on their incomes and livelihoods through productivity.

John Vianney one of the beneficiary farmers disclosed the kits will help him to meeting his targets without waiting on seasons and rains.
