The Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA has set Saturday October 10th as the date for the FUFA Big League playoff at its technical center in Njeru.

This was resolved at a Consultative meeting with men’s teams that are set to feature in various league playoffs at FUFA complex building in Kampala on Monday.

The meeting that was chaired by FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo resolved that the federation cost shares Covid19 testing fees with the clubs, accommodates plays and officials as well as provide medical services during the matches.

The resolutions have generated mixed reactions from the clubs, saying the Federation didn’t give them sufficient time to prepare for the competitive playoffs. Wilfred Muhumuza Kato, the Chief Executive Officer Ndejje University, says they are grateful for FUFA’s decision to help them meet part of the Covid19 testing fees.

He, however, says the clubs have a very short time to prepare for the playoffs. “First of all we would like to appreciate FUFA for having sponsored the testing exercise because it was very expensive, but the challenge we have now is inviting our players, training and preparing for matches. We shall try our best,” Muhumuza told URN.

Francis Mugerwa, the Vice President Kitara Football Club also says they have a very short time to prepare given the fact that their players haven’t been training. “I must say the decision is rather rushed. We have been given short notice. We have not been in camp we have not been training as a team and actually each player is at his respective home,” Mugerwa said.

The four teams that will take part in the playoffs are Ndejje University FC, Kataka FC, Kitara FC and Kiboga Young FC. The winner of the playoffs will join Malaba Youth Development Association FC (MYDA) and UPDF FC that have already qualified to play in the 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
