Police Hunt Tractor Driver After Road Crash Kills Five in Kikuube

Police in Kikuube is hunting for the driver of a tractor following a road crash that killed five people on spot and injured others.

The fatal road crash occurred along Kiziranfumbi-Kabaale road in Kikuube town council in Kikuube district at around 8: 30pm on Wednesday. The crash occurred a few meters from the Kikuube District Headquarters involving a tractor and a white taxi drone with registration number UA 535BL moving from Kiziranfumbi to Kabaale Sub County.

Speaking to Spice FM in an exclusive interview this morning, SP Julius Hakiiza, the Albertine South regional police spokesperson confirmed the crash saying the driver of the tractor continued with the journey following the head-on collision and has since gone into hiding.

Hakiiza says the five people whose details are yet to be established included four men and one female. Their bodies were conveyed to Kikuube health centre IV for pending postmortem examination.

The police mouthpiece has called on motorists to exercise caution while on the road in order to minimize on the crashes.

The Wednesday crash follows the death of former Kikuube LC5 Chairperson Peter Banura who also perished in a fatal crash in Kiziranfumbi town.
