The Hoima City Woman Member of Parliament Hon Asinansi Nyakato has asked the office of the prime minister to intervene and offer support to the hailstorm affected victims in Kyentale ward in Hoima East division and some parts of Hoima and Kikuube districts.
Nyakato raised a matter of national importance during yesterday’s Parliamentary plenary chaired by Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth noting that hailstorm which swept through last week left behind a trail of destruction leaving the locals in dire need of support from government.
The Woman MP requested the ministry in charge of disaster preparedness to step in and offer food, seeds and shelter because plantations of residents like coffee, bananas, maize and some houses were completely destroyed.
Nyakato’s intervention follows the calls raised by the affected locals to their leaders to bail them out following the loss incurred in their area due to the storm.
In response the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja requested the Honorable MP to write formally to her office regarding the matter saying they will not hesitate to send in relief to the affected victims
