State House Monitoring Unit Raises Red Flag Over Lack of Functioning Theatre Facilities at Lower Health Facilities in Bunyoro.

The State House Health Monitoring Unit has called for boosting of theatre facilities at several hospitals and health centres in the region in order to reduce the burden at the Hoima Regional Referal Hospital.

Hundreds of thousands of patients turn up from the Bunyoro region’s eight districts and Hoima City together with others from the neighbouring districts like Kyankwanzi and Kiboga to accesss theatre services at Hoima Regional Referal hospital due to sub functioning of nonfunctioning of theatre sections in the facilities from their areas which overwhelm the referral hospital.

Now Speaking to Spice FM in an exclusive interview, Dr Elijah Ssemaganda the Assistant Director State House Health Monitoring Unit who have been at on the supervision of the facility for more than three weeks says the theatre at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital is one in the entire city working on a big number of patients saying those in other health facilities are sub functioning while others completely do not have any.

Dr Ssemaganda says relevant stake holders need to work towards providing lasting solutions towards the challenge in the health sector in the region.

Meanwhile Dr Ssemaganda has called for boosting of consultants and experts at the Hoima Regional Referal Hospital saying there are currently a few highly experienced staff to handle the high volumes of patients who turn up every to seek services at the facility.
