As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government commemorates 40 years of the Country’s liberation, residents of Buhanika Sub County in Hoima district have increased their demands for compensation from the government for their family members who sacrificed their lives during the struggle that brought it to power.

According to Jamil Kasangaki, the Sub County LCIII Chairperson 13 out of the first 26 members of the National Resistance Army (NRA) who participated in the Liberation war hailed from Buhaniika Sub County however, till now nothing much has been received from the government in the area.

Kasangaki says they want something monumental to be set up in their area saying the demands for establishing a technical school are long overdue and now wants government officials to fast track the project on top of ensuring the families of the lives lost during the struggle get timely compensation.

The LCIII Chairperson has commended the NRM government for the peace and stability that the country currently enjoys, saying Ugandans can now engage in productive activities without any interruptions or fear of insecurity.

The National Ceremony is currently underway at Kololo Independence grounds under the theme “A tribute to the Patriots who ushered in the fundamental change” with President Museveni slated to award 33 individuals with several medals.
