As preparations intensify for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s visit to Kagadi District in December, local NRM leaders and have outlined key development proposals they want addressed to improve service delivery in the area.

The concerns were raised on Tuesday during a mobilization meeting held at the African Rural University Multipurpose Hall in Kagadi Town Council, organized and presided over by Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja.

The leaders told the Prime Minister that Kagadi District still requires special government attention to ensure residents access quality social services. Hon. Stephen Twesige, the NRM flagbearer for Buyaga East Constituency, reminded the Prime Minister that Kagadi General Hospital needs to be upgraded to a regional referral hospital.

He also called for the tarmacking of key historical roads and the rehabilitation of old schools such as Kagadi Secondary School, to improve education standards in the district.

Meanwhile, the NRM District Chairperson for Kagadi, Karungi Mpoza Erukana, appealed to the government to abolish the Ruteete Settlement Scheme, arguing that it has become a political tool exploited by some politicians.

During the same meeting, Dennis Namara, the NRM flagbearer for Buyaga West Member of Parliament, suggested that government prioritizes development projects in his constituency, saying it has not been considered in the 2026-2031 NRM manifesto in terms of service provision.

The NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Region, Jornard Asiimwe, echoed Nabanja’s message, stressing that losing NRM seats would be equivalent to losing access to better services and development opportunities.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Nabanja called on residents to support President Museveni and NRM candidates in the upcoming 2026 general elections, emphasizing the importance of sustaining Uganda’s progress and safeguarding the achievements realized under the ruling party.

She said the NRM manifesto is a guide to national transformation, pointing out major successes such as immunization programs, freedom of worship, and development initiatives including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, UWEP, and YLP, which aim to empower and uplift citizens.

She urged communities to vote for NRM flagbearers at all levels to maintain the development chain and promised to work closely with leaders to improve service delivery in sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, and water.

The Prime Minister also advised the public to ignore politicians who criticize government achievements and abuse the President, urging residents instead to focus on evaluating candidates based on their plan to accomplish once elected.
