Drivers and Boda Boda riders operating from Hoima Tax Park have raised concerns over the poor and deteriorating state of the park amidst the ongoing rainy season.

Our reporter visited the park this morning and found a number of big and small potholes filled with water. Some areas were too muddy and slippery affecting movement of passengers from one destination to another.

Silver Kasaija, a boda boda man operating from the park says the poor state of the park has greatly affected their business where customers struggle to use the park fearing to get accidents in the potholes filled with water.

Fred Kankeire, and Venance Karubanga, drivers operating from the park say travellers always struggle to access the different stages where vehicles end up mixing up in search of better and safer spaces for parking. They say even the murram which is always brought to fill the potholes is always substandard and only provides a shorter solution before the state goes back to a poor state.

Brian Kaboyo, the Hoima City Mayor says the current state of the park is understandable, adding that they have already secured its land title adding that its construction has been planned under the USMID new project.

He adds that for now, they are going to put marram in the coming weeks to provide an immediate solution.
