The Leadership of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party has today launched a team of foot soldiers who will traverse the districts of Hoima and Kikuube districts as well as Hoima city in search of party support ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The launch was presided over by the party’s chief mobilizer for Western region Mr. Habib Buwembo at King’s Avenue in Hoima West division in Hoima City with a call to all party supporters to remain united for a common mission of changing the current government.

Buwembo has urged the foot soldiers to be true representatives of the party with emphasis on upholding the key principals of the party. Buwembo has rallied all change agents to offer support to the NUP party and unite together for a common goal.

The Chief mobilizer also encouraged party candidates contesting for the party ticket on one parliamentary position to harmonize before the elections committee can step in for the vetting process. He made all the parliamentary candidates to swear that they will stand behind those the party will give a ticket ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Bridget Kugonza the Deputy Mobilizer for Western region called on party members to work towards building the party rather than break it down and encouraged the party supporters to contest for the existing elective ofiices in forthcoming elections.

Rwahwire Kato Ronald the Aspiring Hoima West Member of Parliament (MP) noted that NUP supporters have been depicted as rebels which is not true because they don’t have guns adding that their tool in the forthcoming elections is to use their hands by engaging in voting for NUP party contestants to ensure improved service delivery in the country.
