NRM Dominates in Women Council Elections in Hoima City

The Elections of Women Councils was on Thursday conducted successfully across cells in Hoima City with a moderate turn up registered and dominance by the National Resistance Movement.

At several polling stations, women turned up at around 10am and verified their details at various polling stations before they lined up behind their preferred candidates. Elections were not conducted in other areas because the nominated candidates went through unopposed and their names will be submitted to the City Town clerk.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party dominated victories in the areas where elections were conducted on Thursday with other positions being unopposed and won by NRM. For positions of Women Chairpersons of cells, Tibulihwa Regina won in Lusaka Upper cell, Kabajungu Beatrice in Kalyabuhiire cell, Mbabazi Angelica in Bwikya cell, Kaburamuteto Elizabeth in Kikwite cell, Kyakuhaire Saudah registered victory in Bujumbura East cell among others.

The newly elected Women leaders at cell level have promised to advocate for income generating projects and access to government programs like PDM, GROW, UWEP and other programs meant to improve income and development for women in their area.
