Parliament is conducting a special sitting to pay tribute and honor Gen (rtd) Moses Ali, the former Adjumani West County MP.
The sitting is being chaired by the Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth and attended by President Museveni and the family members of the fallen legislator. Museveni laid a wreath on Gen. Moses Ali’s casket before signing a condolence book at Parliament.
While moving a motion to pay tribute to the late Gen. Moses Ali, Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja said the former 2nd Deputy Prime Minister had an illustrious career spanning more than 50 years in various capacities in the military, civil and public service.
Nabbanja has revealed that Gen. Moses Ali was a courageous soldier and an astute leader whose personal traits of selflessness, commitment to public interest, strict accountability and ethical transparency enabled him to serve the people of Uganda with distinction.
Vice President Jessica Alupo eulogized the late Moses Ali as a good timekeeper who arrived for cabinet meetings as early as 9am.
Leader of Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi says the late Gen. Moses Ali belonged to NRM but earned his respect. “I respected him even when we differed politically.”
UPDF MP, Lt. Gen. James Mugira, said Gen Moses Ali had a strong passion and love for the military. “He also supported and advanced national programmes for the development of this country.”
Gen Moses Ali will be laid to rest on Wednesday after a series of official ceremonies in Kampala, Yumbe and Adjumani following the government’s decision to accord him an official burial.
