A teacher in Kibaale District has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl with disabilities.
The incident, reported on March 25, 2026, involves a deaf and mute student who resides at Bujuni Convent under Bujuni Catholic Parish.
Kibaale District Chief Administrative Officer, John Katontoroma, confirmed that Emmanuel Ahereza is under interdiction.
The suspect is a Senior Education Assistant at Bujuni Boys Primary School in Kibaale Town Council.
Katontoroma said the decision was taken in line with public service regulations governing civil servants facing criminal investigations.
“We have interdicted the teacher in accordance with the public service standing orders. He will receive half salary during the investigation period, and he is not allowed to leave the country without clearance from both the Chief Administrative Officer and police,” Katontoroma said.
He further noted that the interdiction is meant to ensure due process while the criminal investigation is ongoing.
Kibaale district Police Commander, Joseph Ayesiga confirmed that Ahereza was briefly held and later released on police bond as inquiries continue.
After his release, he reportedly traveled to his home district of Mbarara. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
