In an incident that has sent shockwaves through Nyabusojo village, Kabasekende Sub County in Kibaale district, a 43-year-old man has committed suicide after beheading his stepson and butchered his wife leaving her in coma.
The deceased family head has been identified as Sam Tumusiime, who allegedly used a sharp panga to butcher the wife Joan Kyalimpa aged 20 and her son Derick Alitujuna aged 4 years.
Chrysostom Atuhura, the brother to the family head narrates that after the heartless act, the deceased took his own life by hanging a few meters from their home in Nyabusojo village.
Atuhura, says his brother has been a renowned drunkard and his family had been embroiled in persistent domestic violence.
Yafesi Amara Bamuturaki, a neighbour who was once the husband to Joan Kyalimpa and father to a deceased child narrates that this has come at a time when he had been demanding for his son in vain after witnessing several domestic violence cases in this family.
Residents have attributed the incident to prolonged domestic violence stemming from excessive alcohol consumption.
Leaders including Charles Businge, the area district councilor and John Mary Tibezinda, the LC3 chairperson who rushed to the scene have appealed to residents to always seek help from their offices when they get grievances.
By press time officers from Kibaale police headquarters had reached the scene to carry on investigations and Joan Kyalimpa had been admitted at Kibaale health center IV fighting for her life.
