Kinyara Sugar Limited has received an award from the Rotary Club of Masindi.
The award is in recognition and appreciation of the company’s generous contribution towards the Charity Run organized by Rotary Club of Masindi in partnership with Masindi district.
The Run was aimed at raising funds to install a piped water system at Masindi Hospital.
The award was received by the Kinyara Sugar Ltd staff led by the PRO after the Charity run which was held in Masindi town on Thursday.
“We appreciate this award in recognition of the support we extend to the community. We support health, education, infrastructure, environmental conservation and Agriculture activities in the communities under our CSR programs. We are pleased that our interventions have positive impacts on the communities ” the Kinyara Sugar Ltd Public Relations Officer Mr Francis Mugerwa said shortly after receiving the award.
The Run was flagged off by the Masindi Deputy RDC Mr. Sanon Dhaala.
The Masindi Rotary Club President Ms Perida Agaba said Kinyara Sugar Ltd has consistently supported various charity events organized by Rotary.
“The company generously and consistently supports all charity events we organize. From supporting the annual cancer runs to raising funds for establishing a water system at Masindi Hospital. We are so grateful” Agaba said.
Kinyara Sugar Ltd runs several Corporate Social Responsibility programs that have transformed communities in Masindi district.
Kinyara Sugar Ltd conserves over 2,000 hectares of forests and wetlands, constructs and maintains over 2,000 kilometres of access roads in Masindi district, and supports the construction of places of worship of different religious denominations and water sources in communities.
The company runs a health facility that is open to both workers and communities and the company offers community medical outreaches. The company offers highly subsidized technical education at Kinyara training center where students get higher diplomas and certifications by accredited by the City and Guild, UK.
The company has a Nursery and Primary School inside its premises and established a Government aided secondary school, one of the best secondary schools in the country.
Under the Kinyara Assisted Primary Schools Association (KAPSA) program, Kinyara Sugar Ltd supports public primary schools in the sugar cane growing areas in order to improve teaching and learning. Under the program, schools are supported with top ups for teacher’s salaries and essentials such as water, food, compound cleaning and maintenance, and scholastic materials among others.
The company also supports different sports disciplines within the company and the community. Kinyara supports Cultural programs in schools, communities and proudly supports the annual cultural celebrations of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom.
Kinyara Sugar Ltd gives agricultural extension services to farmers under the farmer development and support program.
