CNOOC Uganda Hosts Kingfisher Community Youth Competitions to Foster Creativity, Environment Protection.

In a bid to inspire environmental awareness and creativity among young people, a total of 30 students from 16 schools in Hoima City, Kikuube and Hoima districts have Wednesday participated in the Kingfisher community youth drawing competition organized by CNOOC Uganda, an oil company operating in Bunyoro region.

The competition, held at Nguruwe barracks-CNOOC venue in Kyangwali parish, were organized under the theme:  “A Beautiful Balance of Heritage and Modernization,” aimed to inspire young minds to showcase their artistic skills while promoting environmental protection and sustainable development.

Hon. Mr. Zhang Lizhong, Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda who was the Chief Guest emphasized the significance of the drawing activity in fostering creativity, self-expression, and environmental awareness among the youth.

Mr. Zhang says through this competition, the learners have the opportunity to express their visions for the future, deepen their understanding of environmental protection, and showcase their talents.

He says the Kingfisher community youth drawing competition is a testament to the power of art in inspiring positive change and promoting environmental awareness among the youth.

Mr. Zhang disclosed that CNOOC has become one of the largest Chinese investors in Uganda saying that Chinese enterprise have over 800 million US dollars and created tens of thousands local jobs.

Apronali Murungi a student from St. James secondary school Hoima emerged the best in the drawing competition for the second edition. He walked away with a trophy and artists paint box among other gifts.
