Lay Leader Arrested for Killing Suspected Goat Thief

Police in Kagadi has arrested two people including a lay leader on accusations of engaging in an act of mob justice that led to the death of a 38-year-old suspected goat thief.

Locals in Kayera Cell Mpeefu Central Ward in Mpeefu Ya Sunday Town Council on Monday lynched the man whose names were unavailable by the time of filling this story for allegedly attempting to steal a goat from the home of one of the locals.

The incident occurred at around 8:00 am Monday.

The owners of the goat made the alarm that attracted residents who intercepted the deceased, before lynching him to death.

Robert Nkwasibwe Birahuri, the Mayor, Mpeefu Ya Sunday town council condemns the act of mob justice and confirmes the arrest of two of his neighbours including the lay leader.

By Press time, detectives from Kagadi central police station had arrived at the crime scene compiling a report and the body was taken to Kagadi government hospital for postmortem.
