Police in Kibaale are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old charcoal burner who was allegedly murdered in a bar fight in Kijungu village, Bubango Sub County, Kibaale district.
Moses Kitamirike, the Kibaale District Police Commander has identified the deceased as Isaac Akanyizuka who is reported to be hailing from Ntugamo district but has been carrying out charcoal burning activities in Kijungu village, Bubango Sub County, employed by one Kadugala.
Kitamirike says at around 2am on Wednesday, Akanyizuka and his colleagues went out for booze at a bar owned by Yosefu Kyamiza but a misunderstanding erupted between three people whom police is yet to identify, over the bar attendant.
He adds that the three suspects are currently on the run following the fight that left Akanyizuka dead.
Stuart Ampereza who was with the deceased at the bar by the time of the incident narrates that as they were enjoying their booze, one man only identified as Dan aged 25 years, a resident of the same area disguising to be mentally ill sparked the fight.
Few minutes after, Dan who is alleged to be the prime suspect convinced Akanyizuka to get out of the bar through the corridors where it is alleged that the suspect used a sharp machete to cut the deceased on the fore head and chopped off the left arm leaving him unconscious.
Josephine Kugonza, a nurse at St. Michael drug shop who first attended to the deceased narrates that she could not handle Akanyizuka’s condition prompting a referral to Emesco Health Centre IV where he was pronounced dead.
Byaruhanga Zimwanguhiza the chairperson Kijungu village and some friend to the deceased have condemned the heinous act asking police to intensify the search for the suspects to face the law.
Later, police arrested 3 bar attendants from the same bar to aid Kibaale police investigations.
