Thousands of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom subjects over the weekend graced this year’s Empango Run to mark the 30th Coronation anniversary of Omukama DR. Solomon Iguru Gafabusa.
The marathon organized by the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom in partnership with Spice FM was flagged off on Saturday morning by the Kingdom Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaaga from Chambers adjacent to Karuzika Palace in Hoima City.
The marathon is one of the pre-activities to commemorate the King’s 30th coronation anniversary commonly known as “Empango” due on June 11 at the kingdom palace.
In the Omukama’s message read for him by the Kingdom Prime minister Andrew Byakutaaga, Omukama Iguru applauded his subjects for embracing the Empango run which he describes as a symbol of unity among the people in Bunyoro.
He said proceeds from the marathon will be used to purchase two delivery beds and an Autoclave Sterilizer for Kibaale health center IV in Kibaale district.
James Asiimwe the district health officer for Kibaale district expressed excitement about the Omukama’s decision to equip the health facility with the equipment adding that they will boost the health service delivery at the facility.
