Police in Kikuube district have arrested one Fred Kasaija resident of Kyeya West Village, Kasonga Parish in Kyangwali Sub County for allegedly assaulting to death a 32-year-old man.
The deceased has been identified as Cuthbert Anatamba, a resident of Kyeya West village.
Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine region police spokesperson says on April 7, 2024 at around 1:00am in the wee hours of the night, the deceased was arrested with two bunches of suspected stolen Matooke.
The locals led by the village chairman beat him severally before he was taken to Kanara police post.
Hakiza adds that on April 12, 2024, Kanara’s health condition deteriorated and he was rushed to Rwenyawawa health center III where he was pronounced dead.
Police picked up Fred Kasaija to help with investigations. Police has slapped charges of murder by assault against the suspect.
