A section of secondary school government teachers have Monday morning stormed Hoima city offices protesting over irregularities and delays in their salary payments.
Richard Atiku Aluma a teacher at Duhaga secondary school says they have experienced continuous delayed salaries, adding that most of them last received their salaries in January and February 2024 while others in November last year.
Atiku says their colleagues in the neighboring districts like Kikuube have received their salaries up to date yet they are experiencing salary delays in Hoima city moreover without any communication from the authorities and they remain relying on rumors.
He says they are barely lacking what to eat and raising school fees for their children
Steven Bigirwa the head of science in Bunyoro region says if the same issues they have presented continue, they intend to have a mass demonstration saying they are teaching learners at the schools yet theirs are at home.
He called for clear communication from the authorities adding that they have been left in confusion of what will happen next.
