Hoima City Council has resolved that the executives of Hoima West Division and City Division identify land to accommodate a Uganda Police Post in the division.
This resolution comes after a dispute between the city council and Hoima West Division leadership over the donation of land for a police post at the Hoima Division offices.
Recently, the city council, under the directive of the town clerk Godfrey Kisekka, ordered for the demolition of police structures at the division offices, citing lack of authorization.
However, in an extraordinary council meeting on Monday, April 29, 2024, at HB Hotel, Hoima West Division Mayor Robert Kyomuhendo revealed that the division’s executive committee had allocated land to the police for temporary use.
However, the city political leadership led by the Lord Mayor Brian Kaboyo argued that the police were erecting the structures illegally because they lacked authorization and documentation from the city council.

Sylvia Nalumaga, the leader of the government business says Uganda Police trespassed on council land without consent of the council and no application for development which rendered the developments illegal.
Joshua Byenkya the Hoima West division male councilor said it would be dangerous to allow police occupy land at Kibingo cell because they already allocated it to Uganda National Drug Authority and it will also indirectly block the development of the area market.
