The Bank of Uganda (BoU) has on Friday handed over a state-of-the-art theater to Kigorobya Health Centre IV, which is expected to greatly improve healthcare services in the district and the region at large.<\/p>\n

The theater, constructed through bank\u2019s corporate social responsibility initiative, aims to enhance improving maternal, infant and child health in the district according to Deputy Governor Michael Atingi-Ego.<\/p>\n

Ating Ego revealed that the facility which is now equipped with upgraded infrastructure, modern medical equipment and essential utilities including solar power and clean water aims at delivering lifesaving services to mothers, children and families in Hoima and neighbouring districts.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cThe refurbished Kigorobya health centre is a testament to what we can achieve together. We must ensure its responsible use and maintain it for the benefit of generation to come. Let us embrace a spirit of collective responsibility, working together to build a healthier, more prosperous and sustainable Bunyoro\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

The facility serves patients from the districts of Hoima, Buliisa, Nebbi, and parts of Eastern DRC, relieving pressure on Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.<\/p>\n

Lawrence Baluku, the in charge of Kigorobya Health Centre IV, has highlighted that despite this milestone, the hospital still faces challenges, including inadequate staff and equipment for certain surgeries.<\/p>\n

\"\"The ministry of health permanent secretary Dr. Diane Atwiine has commended the Bank of Uganda for such a gesture and leading a hand to government’s effort of eliminating maternal deaths<\/p>\n

Hoima District Chairman LCV Uthman Mugisa Mubarak and the acting Hoima DHO Dr. Lawrence Tumusiime have commended BoU for constructing such a facility that will save a lot of maternal and neonatal deaths.<\/p>\n
