{"id":5410,"date":"2023-09-01T14:46:54","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T14:46:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spicemedia.ug\/spicefm\/?p=5410"},"modified":"2023-09-01T14:47:24","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T14:47:24","slug":"five-nominated-for-hoima-lcv-chairperson-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spicemedia.ug\/spicefm\/2023\/09\/01\/five-nominated-for-hoima-lcv-chairperson-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Nominated for Hoima LCV Chairperson Race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Flavia Ajok<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Five people have been nominated to contest for the Hoima LCV Chairperson seat.<\/p>\n<p>The seat fell vacant following the death of Kadir Kirungi, the former LCV Chairperson in a motor accident in March.<\/p>\n<p>Kirungi, along with his bodyguard, was involved in a collision with a Fuso truck along the Hoima-Kampala Road in Mataagi village, Bukomero town council, Kiboga district.<\/p>\n<p>On March 28th, 2023, the Hoima Chief Administrative Officer officially notified the Electoral Commission about the vacancy, in accordance with the Local Government Act.<\/p>\n<p>As per the act, a by-election must be organized within six months of the occurrence of the vacancy.<\/p>\n<p>The nominated candidates are Uthman Mubarak Kadir Mugisa of the National Resistance Movement-NRM party, Patrick Musinguzi of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC, Moses Aguda of the National Unity platform-NUP, Lenox Mugume of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) party and Vincent Muhumuza Savana who came on independent ticket.<\/p>\n<p>Merab Kasande, the Hoima District Returning Officer said that five candidates were nominated after they presented their required documents to the electoral commission.<\/p>\n<p>She said that the candidates will commence the campaigns from September 1st to September 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Kasande added that training of polling day officials, political parties, and candidates&#8217; agents, as well as the issuance of appointment letters, will start from September 11th to September 12th, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The roadmap from the electoral commission further indicates that polling will take place on September 14th<b>. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Flavia Ajok Five people have been nominated to contest for the Hoima LCV Chairperson seat.
