Scola Tumwesigye, a 50-year-old woman whose three-year-girl died mysteriously in a camp which was established by Bukinda evictees at the office of the Kikuube Resident district Commissioner is stuck with the body. She has nowhere to bury her child\u2019s body.<\/p>\n
This the second child to die mysteriously at the Camp since the group of over 2000 evictees from Bukinda parish in Kyangwali sub-county, Kikuube district camped at the RDC\u2019S office last year in February.<\/p>\n
According to the mother of seven, her child Florence Amutuhaire developed diarrhea and vomiting with high temperature on Sunday morning and died on the wee hours on Monday. Tumwesigye who was in her makeshift house with the dead body and other women grieving for the child said that her child died due to lack of treatment.<\/p>\n
Tumwesigye says she was stuck with the body because she had no relatives where she would bury the body.<\/p>\n
She adds that her husband abandoned her after they started staying in the camp and she is currently struggling to feed and look after her seven children.<\/p>\n
Julius Twenomugisha, the chairman of the Camp says that over 6 people have so far died in the camp and 19 children have so far given birth.<\/p>\n
He notes that there is a lot of suffering mostly among the children, women and elderly. He noted that they have over 300 children in the camp who sleep on empty stomach enduring coldness.<\/p>\n
He attributed the deaths to poor living conditions in the area adding that since they survive on handout food, the children are malnourished.\u00a0 She added that they are also enduring night coldness and lack of proper medication.<\/p>\n
