Police in Masindi District have launched investigations into the murder of a 20-year-old boda boda rider whose body was found in a sugarcane plantation after he had been reported missing.<\/p>\n
The deceased has been identified as\u00a0Wonya Azalia,\u00a0a resident of Katakungirwa Village in Ntoma Parish, Bwijanga Sub-county and Bujenje County.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0ASP Solomon Mugisa,\u00a0the Albertine North Regional Community Liaison Officer and Acting Regional Police Spokesperson,\u00a0Wonya went missing on\u00a0July 19, 2026,\u00a0after a customer reportedly hired him from Katakungirwa boda boda stage for a trip to Kyamalorere Village.<\/p>\n
When he failed to return, a missing person case was reported at Bwijanga Police Station, prompting a search. Mugisa told Spice FM last evening that the search ended on Wednesday evening when police discovered Wonya’s decomposing body in a sugarcane plantation in Byebega Village, Bwijanga Sub-county.<\/p>\n
Mugisa says detectives recovered the deceased’s motorcycle, registration number\u00a0UGE 636P,\u00a0about 300 meters from where the body was found. He says the body had visible injuries, and investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.<\/p>\n
He appealed to members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.<\/p>\n
Mugisa also attributed the rising cases of murder and theft in the region to drug abuse and idleness among some youths, urging communities to work closely with police to curb crime.<\/p>\n
