Joselynne R Rwakakooko as its Acting Managing Director, in a leadership change that comes as the state utility takes on an expanded role in the country\u2019s electricity distribution network.<\/h1>\n<h1>In a statement issued Saturday, the Board said Rwakakoko\u2019s appointment takes immediate effect and is part of \u201crecent governance and management changes\u201d at the company.<\/h1>\n<h1>She replaces Paul Mwesigwa, who the Board credited for his service over the years.<\/h1>\n<h1>Rwakakoko brings more than two decades of experience in electricity distribution, commenrcial operations and utility management, having served with UEDCL\u2019s senior management ranks.<\/h1>\n<h1>The transition comes at a pivotal moment for Uganda\u2019s power sector.<\/h1>\n<h1>The management of the company has reassured the public and investors that leadership change would not disrupt service delivery.<\/h1>\n<h1>Uganda\u2019s electricity demand has been rising steadily, driven by industrialization, urbanization and government programmes aimed at expanding connections.<\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Johnson Kanyesige Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has appointed Eng.
