{"id":10583,"date":"2025-11-28T17:06:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T17:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spicemedia.ug\/spicefm\/?p=10583"},"modified":"2025-11-28T17:07:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T17:07:59","slug":"hailstorm-leaves-trail-of-destruction-in-kibaale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spicemedia.ug\/spicefm\/2025\/11\/28\/hailstorm-leaves-trail-of-destruction-in-kibaale\/","title":{"rendered":"Hailstorm Leaves Trail of Destruction in Kibaale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Edward Byamukama<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Residents of Kibaale Town Council and Bwamiramira Sub-county \u00a0in Kibaale district are counting losses after a heavy downpour, accompanied by a violent hailstorm and strong winds, destroyed acres of garden crops and left 22 houses unroofed on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The most affected areas are Ngangi A Village in Kibaale Town Council, as well as Kikaada and Kiyanda villages in Bwamiramira Sub-county.<\/p>\n<p>Leonard Kayonga<b>,<\/b>\u00a0the Chairperson of Ngangi A Village, said the storm ravaged banana, cassava, maize gardens, and unroofed houses more than 100 houses.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed for urgent support from government authorities and good Samaritans. He further advised residents to plant trees around their homes as a protective measure against such disasters.<\/p>\n<p>One of the affected residents, Rosemary Namukisa<b>,<\/b> whose house was completely unroofed, pleaded for immediate assistance from well-wishers and political leaders.<\/p>\n<p>When contacted, the Kibaale District Production Officer, Hassan Matovu, said he would conduct an assessment and compile a report to be forwarded to the Prime Minister&#8217;s Office for intervention.
