Jonah Wamani Byakutaaga, a former journalist working with Next Media Services, has been declared the NRM flag bearer for Hoima East Division.
Byakutaaga polled 3,483 votes, followed by Regan Martin Tusiime, who gathered 648 votes, while Ahmed Nashif emerged in the third position with 606 votes. Mackline Sunny Kyomuhendo came last with 321 votes.
Byakutaga was declared the winner at Kitara Secondary School by Sarah Kobusinge, the NRM registrar for Hoima city.
Meanwhile, Barnabas Tinkasiimire, the incumbent MP for Buyaga West constituency, has been defeated in the NRM primaries. He was defeated by Dennis Namara, who polled 48,166 votes. Tinkasiimire polled 18,288 votes.
James Byarugaba came third with 16,151 votes, while Johnson Habasa secured the fourth position after garnering 503 votes, whereas Johnson Hashaka secured the fifth position after garnering 55 votes. John Tumwebaze came last with 2 votes.
In Kakumiro, Robinah Nabbanja, the incumbent woman Member of Parliament who doubles as the Prime Minister, was declared the NRM Flag bearer.
Nabbanja polled 101,649 votes. She was followed by Grace Tushemereirwe Bataringaya, who polled 18,052 votes, Praise Nabasa came third with 2163 votes, while Harriet Ssali Tibulihwa emerged in the fourth position with 269 votes.
Speaking shortly after being elected, Nabbanja thanked the people of Kakumiro for entrusting her with the votes and pledged to ensure that the electorate in her area gets effective service delivery.
In Hoima city, Princess Dianah Mugenyi has been declared the NRM flag bearer for the Hoima city woman MP seat, beating two other candidates.
Meanwhile, Donald Bakiire has been declared the NRM flag bearer for Hoima West division after he gathered 4,777 votes. He beat the incumbent MP Dr. Joseph Ruyonga, who polled 4,515 votes while Ronald Tumusiime came last with 1,451 votes.
In Kigorobya County of Hoima district, Dr Gerald Kasigwa has been declared the NRM flag bearer, beating the incumbent David Karubanga. Kasigwa polled 9,938 votes against Karubanga’s 6,619 votes.
Relatedly, Aled Akugizibwe has been declared the NRM flag bearer for Buruli county in Masindi district after garnering 9147 votes. He was followed by Julius Mugisa, who garnered 4,140 votes, while Zachaeus Mwetegya came third with 3,687 votes. Stephen Kabindi emerged in the fourth position after he garnered 2,840 votes, while Patrick Ongei was the last in the race after he polled 526 votes. The results were declared by Moses Ogwang, the Masindi District NRM Registrar.
In Bugangaizi East Constituency of Kakumiro district, Onesmus Twinamasiko was declared the NRM flag bearer after he polled 19,762 votes, representing 41.87 percent. The incumbent MP Aisha Agaba Black, came second with 14,300 votes, representing 30.3 percent.
Godfrey Kusiima emerged in the third position after he gathered 12,173 votes, while Deogratius Karubanga emerged in the fourth position after he garnered 966 votes.
In Buliisa, Allan Atugonza was declared the NRM flag bearer for Buliisa county. He polled 7,222 votes representing 39.8 percent. Charles Bedijo emerged in the second position after he gathered 5,245 votes representing 28.9 percent while Robert Kagoro emerged in the third position after garnering 5,136 votes while Happy Rogers came last with 562 votes.
In Kibaale, Noeline Basemera the incumbent woman MP bounced back after securing 26,121 votes beating three other candidates. She was followed by Annet Nabaduka who polled 17,079 votes. Hope Kanyenzi came third with 11,834 votes while Grace Kugonza secured the fourth position after garnering 2089 votes.
Relatedly, Norah Bigirwa has been declared the NRM flag bearer for Buliisa Woman MP seat beating three other candidates. She polled 7,127 votes representing 39.4 percent while her closest rival Fiona Mary Lawino came second with 5,842 votes. Harriet Kusemerewa emerged in the third position after she gathered 4675 votes.
Sharom Nakiiza, who also participated in the race, came last with 423 votes.
