The Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese has launched a coffee planting initiative in the Kisiita Archdeaconry as part of its broader efforts to eradicate poverty.
The launch took place on Tuesday at St. Peter’s Businge COU parish, presided over by Bishop Rt. Rev. Jacob Ateirweho.
According to the Bishop, the diocese has already planted 3,223 coffee seedlings across 10 out of 14 parishes in the Kisiita Archdeaconry.
He notes that the goal is to plant a total of 20,000 seedlings within the next 2-3 years throughout the diocese. Bishop Ateirweho encourages Christians to invest in coffee planting, emphasizing its potential to improve household incomes.
The Bishop also urges Ugandans to maintain peace during the upcoming elections and to reject divisive politics if we are to foster a harmonious society.
Meanwhile, Rev. Can Godfrey Buro, Archdeacon of Kisiita Archdeaconry stresses the importance of tree planting for environmental conservation.
He also calls on the public to prioritize sanitation and hygiene to prevent health-related illnesses.
