Farmers in Buhanika Sub County, Hoima district have been tasked to utilize the current rains to prepare their gardens and plant on time in order to catch up with the season.

According to the local leaders, the area is economically dependent on the agricultural sector and farmers need to be strategic enough and utilize the rains which are usually for a short span in this season if they are to remain productive in this year.

Jamil Kasangaki, the Sub County LCIII Chairperson while speaking to Spice FM in an interview on Monday morning says that rains have so far been calm, providing a good atmosphere to keep in their gardens and ensure they plant on time rather than spending time in trading centres in unnecessary gambling activities.

He says most of the locals are farmers and therefore due to climate change effects rains tend to be unpredictable adding they should not wait for too long to plant their seeds if they want to manage the season effectively.

Meanwhile the sub county head also urges all the Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries not to keep the money in banks but rather utilize the new season to put the funds to good use.
