Secondary school heads in Kagadi district, have expressed their readiness in transitioning to the new A’ level curriculum and to implement it in accordance with the ministry of education and sports guidelines.

Their revelation comes as senior five students officially begin their first academic term under the newly implemented A-Level curriculum, which emphasizes a competency-based approach.

Spice FM has today conducted a mini-survey in some schools across the district and students were seen in classrooms taking lessons following the new A- level competence-based curriculum.

The students who are the pioneer products of the new competence based lower secondary school curriculum now proceed to A-Level with the new curriculum, marking a significant shift in the teaching methodology and subject content compared to the previous system

At Kagadi SS, 205 Students have today reported for Senior five, Fountain of Hope SS registered 20 students on day one, Bunyoro SS 32 and Kagadi People’s SS received 60 Students.

In other visited schools, St. Adolf Tibeyerirwa SS Muhorro recorded an enrolment of 55 students in S5 where as Owobusobozi Bisaka Itambiro Modern SS received 26 students in senior five.

School administrators have however considered subject scores of A, B and C for selecting subject combinations for learners.

They have said the turn up for senior five students might increase because more students are expected to report in the course of this week.

The school heads have however asked parents to support their children, calling for concerted effort in the implementation of the new A-level competence-based curriculum that requires more resources in facilitating practical lessons.
