Leaders in Hoima City have cautioned the locals to protect themselves amidst rising MPOX cases.

The City health department has already reported 37 cumulative cases with Kyesiga trading center, and some drinking points in Hoima west division listed as hotspots for the disease.

Sylvia Nalumaga Balyesiima the city mayor has implored the residents to put measures of avoiding contracting the disease adding that getting it means reduced productivity on the side of the patients and their patients.

Joshua Byenkya the Hoima West division male councilor has asked the locals to take the disease seriously and avoid getting contacts with unknown people.

He adds that in Kyesiiga alone, there are many vehicles which park in the area, and this means, many new people get into contact with the locals which increase the risk of spreading the disease further emphasizing that diseases result into poverty because they facilitate overspending amidst limited income.
