The area land committee in Hoima East division has been tasked to exhibit transparency in their activities in order to minimize land issues in the city.
The names of the land committee were approved on Thursday during a council sitting held at Hoima Resort Hotel with a new member joining the five-member committee.
The members are Godfrey Katabarwa as the Chairperson, Muzamil Aheebwa, George Kyahurwa Byaruhanga, Sharon Tainage, and Patrick Muntu Basigara. Mr Byaruhanga replaces Langton Irumba on the division area land committee.
Now, speaking to press after approval of the land committee, Moses Muyambi the Hoima City East division deputy RCC has revealed his office has been filled with land issues raised by the residents and now asks the committee to serve the communities diligently and get oriented by other experienced officers.
He requested members who find themselves in conflict of interest regarding a land issue to always excuse themselves and let other members handle the matter to ensure justice is provided to the communities.
Bosco Muhanuzi the Mayor Hoima East City division urged the committee members to work effectively with the locals and exhibit transparency and integrity in the roles they have been entrusted with.
He added as leaders they will supervise the committee to ensure they serve in their roles as expected.
George Kyahurwa Byaruhanga a new member on the committee revealed that they work together with the locals to find lasting solutions to land issues in the area.
